Two are dead after a stabbing attack near Tel Aviv.
Officials called the Sunday morning attack “complex and difficult,” with the victims in separate but nearby locations. The suspected attacker also died.
Two people were stabbed to death and two others were injured in Holon, Israel, on Sunday morning in what the police said was most likely a terrorist attack. The suspect was also pronounced dead.
Emergency services in the city, south of Tel Aviv, were alerted just before 7:30 a.m., Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency services organization, said on social media. They found four victims in three separate locations.
A 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the emergency services said. She was in a park.
A man in serious condition was nearby, the emergency services said. A 70-year-old man was found on a street in critical condition, and a 26-year-old man was found at the entrance to a bus parking lot, conscious.
The victims were taken to a hospital with stab wounds, Magen David Adom said. A second victim subsequently died, Peretz Amar, the Tel Aviv District police chief, said at a news conference.
The police shot and “neutralized” the suspect, Mr. Amar said. The Israel Police said the attacker was a resident of the Israeli-occupied West Bank who was in his 20s. On social media, it said that the attack was a “suspected terrorist attack.” Such stabbing attacks have been fairly common in Israel in recent years.
Officials at the Shamir Medical Center said that the attacker was taken to the hospital critically wounded and was later pronounced dead.
